Description of Duties
Internship with IPEC provide an opportunity for students who are pursuing a course of study in fields related to child labour to:
– Increase their understanding of relevant issues at the international level by involving them directly in the work of IPEC;
– Gain practical work experience in the field of child labour and its links to other related fields, such as education, youth employment, gender, agriculture, mining, etc.

Under the supervision of a professional in IPEC, typical assignments for interns include:

– Review and analyse literature
– Undertake research in a particular subject area
– Organise data and documents
– Develop tools and guidelines
– Draft reports and conduct case studies
– Participate in on-going projects implementation and/or evaluation

Required Qualifications
Education
Interns should have completed graduate and/or post graduate studies or be in the final year of undergraduate studies in related fields.

Experience
Experience in research and/or academic/voluntary work in the related area(s) would be an advantage.

Languages
Working knowledge of English, French or Spanish. Knowledge of the second language or Portuguese would be an advantage.

– Ability to produce quality results in time
– Ability to work in a multicultural and multilingual environment

Additional Information:
Applicants for internships can be of any nationality.

An intern should not be a close relative of a serving ILO official.

Interns based at headquarters in Geneva without any external source of funding will receive CHF1,500 per month as a stipend.
